the machine

Doug can function on high gear, all day, on very little fuel. It is amazing to me. He seriously is like a machine. We worked all morning doing yard work and then he worked all afternoon doing more work, all the heavy, jackhammer, concrete & rock moving stuff. And then he went to play basketball for 2 hours. And not just a light game. Pretty much 2 hours of straight running/sprinting. All this on just a bowl of cereal and a cheeseburger (a mouth wateringly delicious burger on our new grill i might add) and fruit for lunch. I get cranky and totally feel it after about 3 hours max of not eating... he can go all day pretty much with no thought of food. How is that possible? I think it must be because he really is part machine.

graduated

I can't get this to go the right direction. It's being a pain. But here you have it. Doug and I have successfully completed our childbirth class. It was actually pretty good and except for the long breast feeding part, and the one class I said he could miss, Doug did excellent :) He was the best baby swaddler in the class. Only 32 more days!!!!

34 weeks...

Sorry for the bad pictures, but that's all I got this week. OK, only 36 days left? What the.... So, it's starting to feel like this is really going to happen. Went to the docs on Tuesday, she said that my blood pressure, weight, uterus size (now acting normal) and the baby's heart rate at 148 was great. So all is well. Starting to feel a lot more contractions already and I'm thinking this is going to be a super fast/slow next few weeks. But I'm not complaining. I'm feeling pretty good and this ache in my back and the waddle I've started walking with is on it's way out. 6 weeks left really seems like you're finally on the downside... yikes. Doug's starting to panic about baby names, and the fact that we really can't pick one... so yes, still no update on that.

buttgrass

Don't worry. Doug's winning. This has been an ongoing battle for a over a month now. This stupid weed is proving quite the pain in the butt to get rid of. We started growing a lawn but apparently we didn't kill the weeds good enough before we planted (lesson #1 learned of many this past few weeks...) because the lovely new little law sprouts got overtaken by these pests. And the only way to get them out is to go deep, deep, deep down and find the nut so it doesn't spread more weeds all over. And in the process, wrecking all your lovely little new grass sprouts.

Dig out around it and be verrrrry careful not to break the thin root that holds everything together and leads you to the nut...

and you are finally rewarded with this...
or this...

Don't worry, we're going to win. These suckers don't have a chance with Doug around :)

Here's the old guy that has served well and faithfully for many years...
We've waited about 7 months to put this together but we finally did it! and don't be fooled, i was very helpful in this process :) isn't it so shiny and pretty?

And just to scare you a bit... excuse me, what is this line forming on my tummy that I never knew was there because I can't see that part of my body anymore...
