October 2013

Davey is a shoe thief. He loves shoes. All of them. And if you are in a hurry to leave the house, be sure that you will not be able to find at least one of your slippers. He is getting pretty good at it but he thinks it's a game. Wants to take his shoes off after just a little bit.

Look at that cutie. He is really Doug's little buddy. He just loves him.

Learned how to fold his arms for prayer a few weeks ago. So reverent. As soon as he hears the word prayer or fold arms he immediately does it and stands still.

We went to our friends house for Halloween movie night outside, watched Monsters Univesity, pretty funny. And they all happened to be in those pjs. First year we are on top of the holiday pj game.

Taking a quick parting ride on the golf cart with Grandad. We have more pictures to come of their visit but this is all I had on my phone for now. So fun to have them here.

Baby girls baby shower. I didn't get the memo to wear pink and i look like dopey and huge, but it was a really fun night. we had delicious dinner, made headbands and just relaxed and opened presents.

Great time with everyone.

Hanging out watching Ellie and friends surf. And Dad. He kept saying, Dad is really good, he is the best. Tuck practicing his tree climbing skills while Grandad takes a nap in the shade and still manages to get totally burnt!

They went on a hike to Sacred Falls and Tucker was a trooper and went too. He insisted on being the leader for most of the way back apparently and was a champ. Until the last half hour or so when he cried the whole time cause he wanted his blankie. They didn't get home til dark so I would consider that a success. The first thing that Tucker says when he walks in is "I cried on the way back because I wanted my blankie."

This is what they do when Grandad is in charge at Waimea.

Hanging out at the temple (don't let this picture fool you, they were not being reverent at all, running around like crazies the whole time). These are our neighbors. Tucker loves to play with William.

We came home early after a ridiculously terrible sacrament meeting at church with both kids whining and not behaving and both doug and i exhausted from it. I took a sick and exhausted davey home for a nap and a misbehaved tucker home and was told to punish him and not be nice while doug stayed and taught primary. so he screamed in his room for an hour, not napping, then he finally calmed down and came out and we watched a conference talk, colored new testament pictures, learned about and practiced being reverent (like demonstrated above, ha) and then looked at all the pictures in the book of mormon. He is pretty good. He remembered that Moroni buried the plates and Joseph Smith found them. And that Jesus is nice. It ended up being a good afternoon but really, sometimes it's crazy.

Tuckers favorite breakfast lately is pancakes. Dad is the best pancake maker according to Tucker.

Alligator pond was perfect on Monday morning. A bunch of our friends ended up there and I had the morning off and Doug was out surfing Kakele's and we were having a great time in the beautiful sun and water and Tosh and Tuck are awesome in their goggles and boards.

He is the opposite of Tucker. He is always dirty. Tucker is usually clean. And he is always eating.

Right now they are playing hide and seek together and being real cute. It feels like Davey is such a baby still that I can't believe baby girl will knock him out of his place in 2 weeks or less. But I'm excited. I love these kids a real lot. When I don't want to strangle them I want to eat them up.

conversation with doug.

i'm at work, and it's kind of busy since it's the second day of fall and we are trying to rush and get all of our stuff working since i slacked off all summer, but i get a call from doug saying the kids are killing him.

davey is whining to get out of his high chair, tucker will not help clean up his room or listen, he is just sitting there playing with his cars. then he spills all the apple chips all over the carpet, davey is still whining, then he notices tucker has peed his undies and it's all over the floor and while he's cleaning that up and yelling at the kids, our neighbor who is kind of shy or something, it just takes her a long time to spit it out, comes over to see if we have her sons truck but she doesn't remember what color it is or much about it. ha! sounds like he is having a great day. and it's a million degrees in the house and everywhere. it is hard not to be irritated all the time. i love doug for staying home with the kids. he is really doing an excellent job and tucker just says, bye mom, when i leave and dayey prefers dad just as much as me, almost. i'm so glad that he is such a great dad and husband. i really love him and feel lucky. and i'm glad he has this chance to be home, that he knows the kids well, and their schedule, personalities and everything just as good as me. it's a nice little blessing right now.

tuck had his first day of happy school today at megs and loved it. told me he had fun without me or dad there. ha! it's tosh, bowen and lola this year. they are really so cute. And the finger in the nose there. they made balloon animals for A.

Tucker has given up his nap. Maybe about a week ago. It was getting way to hard to get him to sleep and he was staying up way too late. He is transitioning pretty well I think. He woke up for a few nights there screaming a bit, and he still does, but he goes to sleep by 8 or earlier and is out in minutes which is amazing. we were wasting so much time laying in there with him trying to wait for him to fall asleep. He's not too cranky during the day, and as long as he starts sleeping all the way through the night, awesome! He also started wearing undies during the day now. He really hasn't had any accidents until today! (since i wrote this post there have been a few more accidents!!) But hopefully it will go pretty smoothly. I think the goal is to get this done before baby girl comes. 2 months and counting. sheesh. And the next big thing is to get Tuck to sleep in a big boy bed. We have it set up in his room but we need to get a rail and i think we'll start moving him over and making room for Davey in Tuckers crib.

I can't believe we are going to be a family of 5 soon. Craziness. But i'm kind of excited. Having 2 kids has really been fun I think. Even though Tucker cannot leave Davey alone, he is constantly knocking him over, checking him, pushing him down to blow farts on his tummy, just always pushing and touching and pulling hair!!! But davye is a pretty good sport about it and Tucker is really sweet to him. Gives him the cutest good night kisses that davey just loves. And Davey boy is moving to one nap. He really has the cutest, chubbiest cheeks ever and just has the cutest smile you want to eat up. so much more of a baby than tucker ever was. love them both!

OK, well, it's time to catch up a little. Here are a few from our phones again, around here the last month or so.
Sometimes, when Tucker is not taking away every single thing that Davey touches, he shares his cars and teaches Davey how to race.

Davey still thinks he's a chicken. Sometimes he puts food on the floor that he already has in his hands so he can suck it up like this. Awesome.

Date night with my wicked bad awesome husband who surprised me and met me all dressed up. And he took me to a girly movie. He is really amazing sometimes. We had such a fun night. So good to get out alone!

I love this picture of the kids both relaxing and sucking their thumbs with their favorite item, Tuck his blanket and Davey his monkey.

Sunday walk. Doug is really awesome at getting us out and doing things. The sick kids started crying on the way over to the Heiau, and Tucker was being a real pest, screaming and crying about everything and I was ready to go home and kill him, and Doug persevered and we got there and had a great time. He even talked him into a little walk and even watch the sunset. He's such a good Dad.

And some more bucket bath. And look at the amazing purple ginger going crazy, and the new awesome bench in our shower :)

Notice the teeth. And the still squinty left eye!

Davey boy looking like a cutie.

tucker and Lola sitting in a tree....

Doug dropped Tuck off at his friends house and they were just finishing up their lemonade stand. Love it.

Bucket Bath time!! Pretty much every day, good times.

Dad made an awesome breakfast and Tuck ate it all up. Since then he's been sick and a super picky eater.

Tucker acting like a big boy in the front seat with dad. Little stinkers.

Look at that awesome hair blowing in the breeze!!

Davey loves his daddy, that's for sure.

Nice to have some family fun.

Lately.

I have a serious post to do on our summer vacation but for now, here are some from my phone. Davey has a hernia (poor baby, but doesn't seem to bother him) and was scheduled to go in this morning, but he decided to get out of it by getting croup this weekend, Friday night of course. He sounded terrible. Luckily I barged our way into the doctors office on Saturday morning and we got him the medicine he needed and a few hours later he didn't sound like an old barking seal, just a small little barking pup. The good news is, he is feeling better so he can continue with this yoga moves. He loves to put his head down like this. Now he is starting to get a pretty good somersault. Same day I kind of poisoned Tucker I think by not paying attention as he ate a whole bag of sugar free gummy bears, and later he had the worst gas and diarrhea, just twisting in pain. I really think those sugar free bags need a big warning! But in between, Tuck had a great time with Doug surfing at Turtle Bay and seeing a huge turtle swim next to them and crashing the pool and the slide at TB. Davey and I joined after his nap and had a great time as well.

Friday night Tuck and I had a date to the movies and we finally saw Planes with him. He totally loved it. He looked like such a big kid sitting there eating his popcorn and loving the entire movie. He is really such a good little buddy most of the time. He gave up his nap too! Which is kind of sad but it is kind of nice too because although you don't get a break (or doug doesn't get a break) anymore during the day, he goes to bed so early and easy at night now, 7:30 rather than 10:30. And he woke up for awhile in the night adjusting, but he is doing pretty good with this. He's getting himself potty trained and wears undies during the day and does pretty good with it, and we have a big boy bed set up in the room, we'll see when he moves over to that. Can't believe how much he still loves his crib.

Dad just put in the bench at the backyard shower, which is pretty much our favorite family hangout. Nice right? And the purple ginger coming in is so beautiful right now. That might be my favorite flower right now.

Us hanging out in the shower. As you can see, good times had by all. I love this picture, and how davey is starting to say cheese for pictures, and how tucker still doesn't close his teeth to say his "s" sound, the nice, cheeeeeethss.

We tried gymnastics for Tuck for a few weeks but that didn't go so well. He does not appear to like doing things in big groups. He is loving happy school this year with Tosh, Bowen and Lola, and even told me before going that he wanted to go in by himself, without Daddy, Mommy or Davey and he made Doug stay in the car as he ran into Tosh's house! This is the little gymnastics that they have set up. Pretty fun stuff, I wish he liked it already, all the other kids moms get to sit and watch and he made me stand next to him and be right there the entire time. Nope, maybe next year...

Having some fun at the beach on Saturday in the rain with some friends.
Checking out the crab with Dad. They are really loving staying home with him. He is doing such a great job. I can't believe how much his patience has increased with them and he now has a great understanding of the joys and terrible parts of staying home. I think he's ready for some more adult interaction. But he really is doing an awesome job. It's a great feeling when the kids want Dad instead of Mom and Tuck just says, bye Mom and waves as I'm heading to work, no sadness at all. Yay! And Doug has so much more energy than me, I think if I was home with them right now they would no doubt be watching a lot more TV. So all is well with 2 kids right now. 3 is going to really going to upset this routine I think...
Tuck is an awesome swimmer already. Probably because he goes for hours every day with Dad.
Uncle Jake came to visit for 24 hours. We loved having him here. A few surf sessions, some pizza and play time and he was gone again. Glad to have him for a little bit though.
Dad also is our resident smoothie maker and he does a fantastic job.
Having some more fun at some friends house. They were loving having Doug under there.
His hair was getting too out of control, and by that I mean he looked just a little too homeless, so I started snipping while he was sleeping :)
Uncle/Cousin Mark reading scriptures to Tuck. Nice work Mark.
Tucker can not keep his hands off Davey. The amount of times he tackles, checks, knocks over or hugs or just gets him is ridiculous. Sometimes funny, sometimes not at all. But there is definitely love between the two!
Playing at Waimea with this whitey. Other than that, all is well and we are not ready to have a baby in less than 2 months.
